Fall 2026 Supervision Group Openings
A few openings left!
I took most of a year off from leading supervision groups, but I’m excited to offer another one this fall! I love the community that grows out of these supervision groups; the reflections, questions, growth that happens; and the chance to meet and mentor associate therapists practicing with values around anti-oppression, liberation, and queer/neurodivergent/fat affirmation.

About me
Hi! I’m Laurie
…a white, fat*, neurodivergent, queer nonbinary therapist, supervisor, educator, parent, tap dancing crafty person. I value unlearning, rough drafts, C-level work, training with folks who have lived experience, befriending my perfectionist parts, and knowing that while I have some identities that are marginalized in our society I find great joy and community in those communities, and I hold tremendous privilege as a white person and a person with a masters degree with experience navigating educational, medical, and mental health settings.
I have worked in many settings over my 20+ year social work journey including a home-based program with youth & families, reproductive health clinic, hospital medical social work, community non-profit, youth mobile crisis services, perinatal partial hospitalization program, and private practice. I’ve trained in and use relational psychodynamic foundations, somatic practices, EMDR, IFS / parts work, mindfulness and nervous system / polyvagal frameworks, and occasionally behavioral interventions like CBT, DBT, and ERP. I love supervising and facilitating groups as an adjunct to my therapy practice with individual adults.
*A note about fat liberation and how I practice when it comes to clients’ desires for intentional weight loss. I practice from a Health at Every Size / weight inclusive / fat positive foundation and I’m a certified Body Trust® provider. I know that weight stigma and size discrimination is real and can have significant negative health outcomes including medical trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and even death. Weight stigma also limits access to health care, education, jobs. I know that intentional weight loss interventions almost never lead to the long-term weight loss promised or improvement in health and can also have negative outcomes. Many clients often come to me because of this background. And that doesn’t mean that my clients don’t experience a desire for weight loss, have had other providers recommend or require weight loss, or are struggling with ambivalence about their size or weight. My goal is to make space for nuance, ambivalence, all the parts of us that are present, respecting client autonomy, and I will not advocate for or recommend intentional weight loss. I welcome supervisees with questions and a genuine desire to learn more about Health at Every Size, fat liberation, etc. And I especially appreciate opportunities to support other therapists in fat bodies navigating their clinical work with clients who may be at different stages of change when it comes to desire for thinness and this GLP-1 obsessed culture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you an approved supervisor and will you sign off on group supervision hours for me?
Yes, I’m an approved supervisor for Washington associate therapists accruing hours for their indenpendent licensure. I will sign off on the group supervision hours for the groups you attend (8 total for the series assuming you attend all the meetings). I do not sign off on direct client hours unless you are also in individual supervision with me. LSWAICs and LMFTAs are able to use group supervision toward their total supervision requirements.
If I’m not in private or group practice, can I still join the group?
Many of the associates who join my groups are providing therapy in their own private practice or in group practice, but not all! I’ve had folks join who are working in hospitals, medical settings, agencies, non-profits. Folks are also often working with diverse populations - adults, couples/relationships, teens, families. If you have questions, feel free to reach out via email or schedule a time for a brief zoom/phone call.
What are your groups like?
My ultimate goal is to support you as a human and a therapist and/or social worker. In the first meeting, we’ll get to know each other and lay the groundwork for our expectations, hopes, and guidelines for the group. Subsequent groups will start with a check-in and continue with discussion related to the issues brought to the group that day. This is a participatory group and questions and issues are brought to the full group for reflections, curiosities, and questions because everyone has important lived and professional experience.
What topics will we talk about?
Ultimately this depends on what’s brought by the group, but most everything is welcome related to being a human in this utterly unique kind of job, finding sustainability to avoid burnout, clinical questions or dilemmas, boundaries, roles, business policies or practices, marketing, licensing process, and more!
