Coaching for Fat Liberation Parenting
In addition to addressing parenting and fat liberation in individual therapy, I offer short-term coaching for parents who are fat, received harmful messages about size as children and who are wanting to raise resilient kids in an increasingly fat-phobic world. I also periodically offer groups for fat and plus size parents to create community around the joys and challenges of practicing fat liberation parenting.
“The goal isn’t to raise kids who never experience a moment of body anxiety; it’s to teach kids who to blame when our culture makes them think their body size is their value.”

Coaching for fat liberation family-building & parenting can help you
navigate care in an anti-fat medical model — whether that’s at the fertility clinic, in an OB or midwife appointment, with pediatricians — so that you get respectful care whenever possible and have the supports and resources you need to manage harmful experiences
reconnect to and foster a secure relationship with your own body. Like secure attachment, that means recognizing your body’s needs (hunger, thirst, rest, pleasure…) and having confidence that those needs are acceptable and can be met. If you’ve gone through fertility care, pregnancy, birth, loss, or lactation, you might have a challenging relationship with your body and coaching can help repair that.
support your child (whether you’re their parent, caregiver, teacher, or other trusted family or community member) to develop a secure relationship with their body
feel confident handling those moments where your child - or your parent! - comments on your body, their body, another’s body and it feels like you have to get it just right
encourage and protect the fat kids in your life
identify times and places you can advocate for more access and rights for fat folks
